Cascade Loop

Sep. 30 and Oct. 1

We started at 11:00. Arrived at the I229 Exit shopping area around 11:45. Adding gas, shopping and lunching there till 1:00. Continued on Highway 20 towards east. Leaves are changing colors. Views are beatiful. Whether became better as well. Passed Marblemount, we visited the North Cascade National Park Visitor Center for a while. After that, we saw three dams along I20 and took some pictures. Continued on to Windy Pass and Washington pass to reach the east side of North Cascades. At the small city Twisp, we turned on highway 153 towards Chelan.

Chelan is a small resort city. There are some restaurants and small shops. We had dinner at B. C. Macdonalds and arrived at our B&B (http://thewellmadebedandbreakfast.com/) before dark. It's the first time we live in a B&B. Room is small but clean and nice. Watched "In the Womb" on National Geographic Channel before sleep. Got up early on sunday to catch Lady Express at 8:30am. Mountains are along the narrow lake. It took us 3 hours to arrive Stehekin, a quiet and even isolated town. Took the bus, we visited the Rainbow Fall. It's a pity that we don't have much time to have a hike. Coming back to lake Chelan around 3:00.

Driving on Alt-97 to Leavenworth. Had a short walk around Leavenworth. The streets are decorated with large hanging flower baskets. Tere are so many visitors.

Drived back on highway 2. Fall leaves were even better along the road.

It's a classic loop. Highly recommended.
