Glacier National Park

Wang Zheng send an email at the Seattle Fun Club. We met at a Chinese restarant and after that we had a great trip to Glacier NP.

Day One:
We met at Xu Ying's apartment at 8:00AM. Packed everything in Xu Ying's Benz suv and started our journey at 8:20. Arrived at Glacier NP at about 6:30 PST. We camped at Fisher Creek near the beautiful Macdonald lake.

Day Two:
Going-To-The-Sun road is one of the most beatiful roads in USA. Blue sky, snow caps, waterfalls, grand green valleys, the views along the way is just amazing.

Our first destination is Many Glacier, where we had a 3.6 mile rt hike towards Redrock Falls. Some fold told us that they saw a bear with two cubs nearby.

On our way back, we boarded the "Montana Mountain Navy" boat at St. Mary Lake. Where the ranger gave us a good geology lecture. In 1850, there were about 200 glaciers. In 1910, when the NP is established, there were about 100 glaciers. Right now, there are only 26 now. It's predicted that there will be none in 1930. Global warming is a reality.

When we came back at Logan pass. Clouds were gathering. We rushed agaisnt rain to the Hidden Lake Overlook on the snowy trail.

Day 3:
Had a hike to Avalanche Lake/creek, a short/easy but pleasant trail. Saw several deers on the way back.

In the afternoon, we rent a rowing boat and went fishing on Lake Mcdonald. Caught a small fish, yummi.

Day 4:
Driving back. Stop and a shopping mall in Montana. Feels great when one does not pay sales tax.

Victoria BC CA Memorial Day Weekend

Visiting Zhang Ge in Victoria.

Got up really early on saturday morning. Left home about 5:50am. We were almost the last car to catch the ferry at Anacortes. Considering that we did not make reservation, we are really lucky.

We were college classmates. Meeting together in a canadian island half world away from China and 11 years after our Tsinghua time makes us pondering on life and fate.

It's cloudy. We went crabbing several times. Twice near Sydney freey and one time in Sooke. Unfortunately, we caught more sea flowers than "eligible" crabs. Zhnag Ge drove us to Vancouver Island. We had hikes at China Beach and French Beach .
